Today’s the day for Grace Mae

YOUNG singer-songwriter Grace Mae is already ticking off items on an extensive list of goals, with the release of her debut single, Not Today.

Not Today shares Grace’s philosophy of walking away from things in your life that make you feel unhappy or aren’t right for you as a person.

“I know you don’t always have much control over some of the big things in your life, but we can look after the little everyday stuff ; friendships, bullying, choosing to do the right thing – it’s not always easy to stick up for whats right for you,” she said.

When playing live she has dedicated this song to children suffering from bullies and those who have experienced domestic violence.

Grace’s mature outlook on life and music has created a platform for her to touch other people and she is looking forward to sharing Not Today with as many people as she can.

The Wollongong artist may only be 12 years old, but she’s well on her way to chasing her musical dreams with her mature sound, hard work and dedication paving her way.

Grace graduated the prestigious Academy of Country Music junior course in Tamworth at just 10 years old and has had the support and guidance of  some of country music’s most accomplished artists, leading to opportunities to share the stage with some of them.

Growing up in the southeast of England, Grace liked to entertain family and friends at local working men’s clubs and pubs, and in moving to Australia she found support in building upon her dream to become a musician, both at school and in her free time.

Grace plays the guitar, keyboards and ukulele and can often be found busking in the street of her now hometown, Wollongong, or supporting local children’s activities with her music across Shellharbour.

“Music is what I do, I love it , and it makes me happy,” she said.
“I remember performing in the end of year show in kindergarten and thinking, that music and performing were  going to be an important part of my life.”

Winning an open mic night in Wollongong in 2017, allowed her to release this debut single, Not Today, on August 10.

“It’s good to have a dream, and I am lucky that I have had the support to follow it.”

Not Today is available from iTunes:
