Bowen celebrates in Country Music Capital

AUSTRALIAN actor and singer-songwriter Clare Bowen will head from one country music capital to another when she brings her tour to Tamworth in July.
Tamworth hosts the Nashville star on July 11 at Wests on her second tour, after selling out venues last year.
This year’s tour sees the singer-songwriter joined by her equally musical brother, Timothy, who was in the midst of cancer treatment on Bowen’s last tour.
“We’re so excited to have him with us on tour with him actually feeling well this time,” she said.
“Last year he was deep in chemo and, when the tour finished, he went from the airport to the hospital from more treatment, so this tour is more of a celebration.”
Her brother has put her band of Australian players together who will be joined by Bowen’s fiancé, guitarist Brandon Robert Young.
“He’ll do the acoustic sessions for the VIP meet and greet, so we’ll get to spend a bit more time together than during the live shows and we’re really happy we have the Australian musical contingent together,” Bowen said.
Before she hits the stage, she will have a week off with her family who she hasn’t seen for about a year.
“Last year it was my first Australian tour and I was operating within the constraints of having family times,” Bowen said. “They were amazing crowds and this time it is so lovely we have all ages venues. We can also fit more people in this time, so we can do bigger shows in more cities.”
It will be the Nashville actor’s first time to Tamworth.
“It’s the Country Music Capital of Australia, so it’s always interesting to visit a new place I’ve never been to,” Bowen said. “I’m a big bit of an introvert, so the party happens on stage and I’m not the person to close down the bar, but we will get out and have a wander around.”
Bowen, who plays Scarlett in the show, Nashville, said fellow actor and artist, Charles Esten (Deacon from Nashville) who played CMC in March, told her he’d had “the best time in Australia”.
The singer-songwriter encouraged her supporters to get in quick for their tickets as they were selling fast and to buy them from the official sites, so they got what they paid for.
